Stephen Nichols Breaks Silence on Days of Our Lives Departure

We think it's fair to say that Stephen Nichols has had a frosty relationship with Days of Our Lives of late. The veteran daytime actor took to Instagram back in April to open up about the Soap Opera Digest "Performer of the Week" award gifted to him and co-star Mary Beth Evans. “I do believe continuing to weave Steve and Kayla’s past into present day story is intelligent writing," he said via Instagram. "However, one day per week (or less) doesn’t give the fans enough time to live with these characters. Respectfully, hoping for a remedy to this.” With that, Stephen's future on the NBC soap has been up in the air ever since. On Thursday night, Nichols took to Instagram once again with a statement. You can read it below. For me, Days of Our Lives is home and I want to be there … I love the people, I love Steven Earl Johnson and I love what Mary Beth and I have been able to create together. I was excited to see what this new team would bring for us and for all of Salem. I’ve been in this business long enough to understand the rotation of stories, and I get that we can’t always be at the forefront. And despite my disappointment in the lack of story this past year, I’ve always worked hard and we’ve always tried to find the moments in whatever we’ve been given. I think we did that. Whenever I see a scene or montage you guys post, I am so touched and I remember just how much story we told for so many years and how rich it was. I’m so grateful for that. And I know that there are still years of Steve and Kayla’s story left to be told. I hope we get to tell that story. Your unwavering support tells me you hope that too. John Goodman Cast in HBO Comedy – What Does It Mean for the Roseanne Spinoff?

John Goodman is in-demand. The talented actor who most recently appeared on Roseanne Season 10 has been cast in the HBO comedy pilot The Righteous Gemstones, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series focuses on the “heir to the throne” of a world-famous televangelist family “with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work, all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,” according to the official logline. The "heir" we're talking about here is named Jesse and is played by Danny McBride, who created the project. McBride will also serve as the director and executive producer on the pilot. Goodman is on board as Eli Gemstone, the patriarch of the family, who is “known the world over for his aggressive salvation techniques, his worldwide ministries, and his award-winning weekly television program.” Related: Roseanne Canceled at ABC! Jesse “fancies himself a maverick in the ministry game, taking what Eli has built and expanding it for a more modern audience.” The news comes just over a week after ABC decided to keep characters from Roseanne alive by way of a spinoff titled The Conners. The network canceled Roseanne last month, despite it being the number one show on television. The reason for the cancelation was down to series lead, Roseanne Barr making a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett. Barr apologized in the aftermath but appeared to blame Ambien for her actions. It even prompted the pharmaceutical company who produces the drug in the U.S. to come forward and claim that the drug does not cause racism. Related: The Conners: Roseanne Spinoff Ordered to Series! The good news for Roseanne fans is that the cast will return for the spinoff without leading lady, Barr. As for what it means for Goodman's tenure on The Conners, not much. It is likely that Goodman will appear on both series. It's difficult enough to imagine the continuing adventures of the Conner family without Roseanne never mind Dan. Alone Season 5 Episode 3 Review: The Serpent

On Alone Season 5 Episode 3, the contestants have been in Mongolia for a week and they're looking strong. That is until one of them has an attack that brings them to a point where they have no choice but to tap out. This is the first episode we've seen Brooke. She was on Season 4 and she lasted with her husband for 49 days. If you remember from Alone Season 4, the two lovebirds built their own little log cabin, complete with a fireplace and a hearth inside. Her husband carved their initials in the hearth and it really looked like a home. The reason they left, like many other, was food. Brooke wasn't eating enough and lost a ton of weight, so her and her husband decided to tap out. This time, she wants to prove she can do this by herself. If I let my dip into the despair that my body is feeling, then I'm done, and I can't let myself go there. Nicole Permalink: If I let my dip into the despair that my body is feeling, then I'm done, and I can't let... Added: June 28, 2018 You'd think her concentration would be on food, but it's not. Her focus is on shelter, but she's not building a cabin this time. She's got a shelter with some logs and a tarp, but she's preparing for the cold. She's building a firepit with a chimney inside her shelter to keep the place warm. Related: Enjoy UNLIMITED access to thousands of Movies and TV shows with Amazon Prime Video. WATCH ANYWHERE. CANCEL ANYTIME! Another person working in her shelter is Nicole. Last time we saw her on Alone Season 5 Episode 1, she was foraging for food and getting to know her surroundings. She knows the cold is coming, so she's using her energy to build a nice warm place for herself. Unfortunately, she's starting to feel the effects of her MS. Last time she was on Alone, the herbals she uses to treat her MS were readily available. In Mongolia, they're not. Nicole is keeping her positive attitude and trying to power through, but you could see the MS getting the best of her. She was taking breaks when needed and listening to her body, but when she started hobbling around with the gnarled stick in her hand to barely make it back to her shelter, I knew her time in Mongolia was running short. So did she. With tears running down her face, she reluctantly called for help on the walkie. It tore my heart out to watch her because it wasn't a lack of will, a lack of food, or a lack of skills that took her out. Her own body betrayed her, and that's the worst. Damn. It's hard to eat snake. Tastes good. Got a lot of bones. Jesse Permalink: Danm. It's hard to eat snake. Tastes good. Got a lot of bones. Added: June 28, 2018 Nicole made it nine days, and at least three of those days were spent in agony, pain, and increasingly heavy mental devastation. Shooter Season 3 Episode 2 Review: Red Meat

Let the conspiracy commence! To be fair, it's not a conspiracy when the facts back it up, now is it? Half of Shooter Season 3 Episode 2 dragged as far as the Jimmy Poole/ Earl Swagger background information and flashbacks were concerned, but by the end of the hour, Shooter had me invested. In a revelation that shocked no one, Bob Lee finally confirmed that his father was killed, not by Jimmy Poole, but by a sniper! Is it Shooter unless the season's big bad is a sniper? I think not. I know back in the eighties ballistics and forensics weren't nearly as advanced as they are now. Some small-town police force wasn't getting it's CSI on. I completely understand that. What I don't understand is how anyone could fail to notice that the gunshot that killed Earl came from a distance. You don't need to be a gun expert to hear the difference. I mean, science, my friends. Bob Lee made a show of replaying that cassette tape over and over again, but it was clear from the first playback that the gun used was a rifle. I can't believe Sheriff Brown missed that after all of these years. Sheriff Brown: Just what are you saying? Bob Lee: I'm saying Jimmy Poole didn't kill my dad. There was another shooter. Permalink: I'm saying Jimmy Poole didn't kill my dad. There was another shooter. Added: June 28, 2018 Am I the only one who finds Sheriff Brown to be a bit suspect? There's something off about him. He always comes across like he's holding back secrets or something, and it wouldn't surprise me if he played a role in some part of this. He wanted Bob Lee to drop the case too fast. Initially, it didn't come across as a concerned family friend looking out for Bob Lee's well-being. It came across as someone who had something to hide and didn't want Bob Lee to dig too deep. Related: The Purge: Get Your First Look at USA's New Series! Julie wanted Bob Lee to drop it too. Julie, babe, Bob Lee doesn't drop a damn thing. You know this. It's still annoying that Julie slipped into the "nagging wife" trope. What does Julie have going for her when she and Mary aren't in harm's way? Not much. She also has a pesky habit of talking too much. I know Sam is close to the Swaggers, but did he need to know right off the bat that Bob Lee was looking into Earl's death? After everything Julie has experienced in the past two season, you would think she wouldn't be as forthcoming with information. Maybe that's an unfair nitpick. Bob Lee's latest quest and that revelation will undoubtedly mean that the other Swaggers (and Julie's sister) may be in harm's way sooner rather than later, so maybe she'll have a stronger arc as the season progresses. Queen of the South Season 3 Episode 2 Review: El Colgado

Before Epifanio died, he told Camila, "Don't let our daughter become like you." That ship has clearly sailed as Isabela made it clear on Queen of the South Season 3 Episode 2 that she wanted Teresa's blood just as much as her mother did. But they didn't get it, at least for now. Watching Teresa run from Camila's hit squad had me holding my breath, which is saying something because realistically I know that if Teresa gets killed the show is over, but that didn't matter. James and Teresa make a formidable team, even when she doesn't trust him. James: I'm going to need my gun. Teresa: There's no shooting our way out of this. James: Look, you and I both know our chances of surviving are better with a gun in my hand. [Teresa gives him a gun] James: There's only one round. Teresa: Then you better aim good. Permalink: Then you better aim good. Added: June 27, 2018 James' aim has never been an issue. The sole time we've seen him miss a target was when he was shooting at Teresa, and I believed him when he told Guero he missed her on purpose. Speaking of Guero, he's still missing in action. I'm betting he's alive and the only question behind his reappearance is whether it will be helpful or harmful to Teresa. No one could say that James didn't pop up at just the right time, which made me nervous. The moment we saw the flashback of James as Trevor, I worried that he was there to murder that entire family. Devon Finch, much like Camila, believes you have to be brutal to remain in power. Did James really decide he'd had enough of that philosophy of doing business? What bothered me was that we never saw James actually leave that home with the family alive. The flashback ended with the father gasping for air on the floor and the little girl screaming. We just had to take James' word for it that he walked away and let them live. It's a nice story, and I hope that it's true, but I'm not convinced. But I have to admit that what James said was correct. He had mostly looked out for Teresa, even when he didn't have to do so. However, James was always above Teresa in the chain of command. Is he now willing to take orders from her? The best part of James and Teresa's reunion was that they had the most entertaining Queen of the South quote of the night: James: I guess it could be worse. Teresa: We're headed to prison. James: In Malta. They serve french bread. They teach yoga. Teresa: Are you kidding? James: No, I saw it on CNN. Top ten places to do time, Malta was number four. Teresa: What was number one? James: Sweden. Prisons are like IKEA stores. Permalink: Sweden. Prisons are like IKEA stores. Added: June 27, 2018 I've been stuck wandering around an IKEA so long that it's felt like a prison, but that's a story for another time. When Rocco de la Pena saved Teresa and only asked for an ..
