12 Monkeys Season 4 Premiere Review: Breaking the Cycle

It's so much easier to understand larger parts of the 12 Monkeys' story when you don't have to wait hour by hour to receive additional information. As 12 Monkeys Season 4 Episode 1 kicked off, Olivia had barely had time to wear the robes of the Witness. She was grasping at straws to find her endgame before even warming up to the idea that she was the thing she had once despised. By the end of 12 Monkeys Season 4 Episode 3, Olivia was fully entrenched as the Witness thanks to Cassie's need for vengeance, but the heroes had also made their first step in putting an end to her reign -- forever. Without airing the full arc of that development with the inclusion of 12 Monkeys Season 4 Episode 2 in addition to the others mentioned above, we would have received the story, but it wouldn't have felt quite as satisfying. The three episodes together told a complete chapter from beginning to end, and it's time to turn the page. Related: 12 Monkeys Season 4: Terry Matalas Says It's Like Three Movies and a Blockbuster! It couldn't have been scheduled more beautifully if we had planned it ourselves. And unlike 12 Monkeys Season 3, we don't have to jump right back in but have time to digest and converse about what we witnessed (ha), and play around with what could be upcoming. This is going to be a very enjoyable month. For all of you watching for the first time in the future on a streaming network, give yourselves time to breather after episode three. No, really. Discovering that Jones had been working all along on a plan to move the facility in the even they needed to escape and play mini-Titan shouldn't have been a surprise, but it was. Don't be surprised, though, when I tell you I looked at the mapping of the beams and had no idea what went down and how some (my Deacon!) were left behind and most of the important stuff went with the facility to the Emerson. The beloved Emerson Hotel is their home away from home and remains so even when they don't expect it. Cassie's hope was for everyone to split up and splinter off into the past to live, much like she and Cole did in 1957. They were ready to do that until the Titan army broke through. Signs of what was to come for her and how she might effect time were planted with this seed: We may have saved Athan's soul, but I am losing mine. Cassie Permalink: We may have saved Athan's soul, but I am losing mine. Added: June 15, 2018 If there's one thing we have learned through watching 12 Monkeys, there isn't a lot of personal choice involved with their actions. They are just as likely to be subjected to things as they are to take actions themselves. Quantico Season 3 Episode 6 Review: The Heavens Fall

This is a mixed bag of an episode. Quantico Season 3 Episode 6 is difficult to review because some aspects of the hour were nicely done, but then it made one horrible mistake that taints the whole hour. Should we start with the good first? Seeing things from Jocelyn's point of view when she's taken is a great way to build up suspense. The lack of sound and vision when we saw things through the hood put you on the edge of your seat. It was impossible not to be tense. Related: Quantico Season 3 Episode 5 Review: The Blood of Romeo Then, there's the time jump of sorts. It's good for the suspense, but it's hard to figure out how everyone got to that point. Sure, we saw Jocelyn taken, but we have no idea how Alex and Celine ended up in cages. Later on, we learned that Leon turned them in, so we can piece together what likely happened. That would have been okay if we didn't then jump to a character dying. We don't get to see Celine's last moments. We don't get to watch her and Alex fight against being taken hostage or initially wake up in the cages. Instead, we cut to the bag being taken off Celine's head, and that's how we learned she died. Celine did not deserve to die like that. She's brushed off as if she was a random character of the week. There's shock surrounding the reveal that Jocelyn killed her, and you sat there hoping that this is all a trick. Alex: Celine, have you ever run a triangle before? Celine: Yeah, at Quantico. Alex: We just pulled 7 dead bodies out of a burned out house. This is not Quantico. Permalink: We just pulled 7 dead bodies out of a burned out house. This is not Quantico. Added: June 15, 2018 It's not. Celine, a young woman with a bright career ahead of her, was just killed for shock value. She didn't get a good death. She didn't go out heroically. Were we supposed to be satisfied by Shelby saying, "she fought like hell?" Shelby didn't see the fight, so we're judging this off of the wounds on Celine's body. It's not okay. Celine's barely even fleshed out as a character. We do what we do, and sometimes the heavens fall. Frank Permalink: We do what we do, and sometimes the heavens fall. Added: June 15, 2018 Think about it. We barely know anything about Celine. She's a newbie agent. Yup, that's about all we know. Celine was treated as a plot device, not a character. All her death did was make everyone realize how high the stakes were and cause Jocelyn to blame herself. It's hard to feel the weight of a character's death when you barely know the character. The only sad part about Celine's death is that they killed her off in such a horrible way. Also, it's worth pointing out that the show just killed off one of the few women characters it has. It's a male-dominated team, and it's awful that they had to kill off a woman. Now, Alex, Shelb..

Lucifer Season 4: The Devil Rises Again on Netflix!!

The Devil went down to Nexflix; he was looking for a soul to steal. Instead, he found a new home. Hallajula! That's right, our devilish anti-hero is sticking around for Lucifer Season 4, so we'll continue the story we've grown to love! After weeks of steadfast cheering and jeering (depending on the side), the voices of fans have been heard. Fox may have allowed the show to go stale with too many long breaks, but at Netflix, Lucifer will get the kind of love it deserves. Related: Kevin Alejandro on the #SaveLucifer Campaign, Dan's Growth, and Directing the Final Episode Lucifer himself, Tom Ellis, responded to the news on Twitter: "WE DID IT !!!!!!!!!!! Thank you to everyone for your continued support and love for #Lucifer I am so happy for all our fans I’m going to burst ✊😈❤️ #LuciferSeason4 on @netflix wow that sounds nice. You fans made this happen. #LuciFansrock #Lucifersaved ✊😈" Aimee Garcia, who plays Ella on the series, shared her excitement as well, "Thank u 2 our Lucifans ... YOU ALL (& @netflix ) were OUR angels!!! LUCIFER. FANS. ROCK. 😈🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽" Showrunner Joe Henderson, who had been out pounding the streets trying to find a new home shared this message, "Thank you thank you THANK YOU to all the #Lucifer fans. You brought us back. YOU did this. "So relax, take a breath, put some ice on those fingers that have been hashtagging up a storm... and get ready for more deviltime😈" Congratulations are already coming from fans and close friends of the production, too. Tricia Helfer, who played two characters on the series and died during Lucifer Season 3 in a heartbreaking scene shared on Twitter, "Congrats, Lucifer team, on the Netflix season 4 pickup. You’re gonna rock it. Lucifans, you guys made it happen with all the noise. Congrats to you all too!" Related: Lucifer Season 3 Episode 24 Review: A Devil of My Word Even fellow showrunner Hart Henderson sent out his congratulations noting, "This is a big deal." Lucifer is the second series canceled by Fox this season to be picked up by another network. Shortly after it's cancelation and also following an outcry by fans, NBC picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It's becoming more common for networks seeing opportunities with series that originating networks night not and to pick up shows after cancelation. Lucifer and Brooklyn Nine-Nine were joined by The Expanse, which was canceled by Syfy and rehomed at Amazon. In this instance, Fox cut Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but will be relaunching Last Man Standing, the Tim Allen comedy axed by ABC a couple of years ago. Previously, Netflix relaunched Longmire, a show canceled by A&E that lived on for several more season on the streaming network. This new normal gives a lot of hope to fans that shows they love can be resurrected not only if what they watch is quality television, but if their voices are heard. Supergirl Shocker: Who’s Out as Series Regular?

When Supergirl returns for Season 4, there will be a lot less Winn. According to TV Line, Jeremy Jordan will be a recurring player on the fourth season. Jordan has been a series regular on the hit superhero drama since it premiered back in 2015. However, the report states that there will still be "big stories" for Winn when the series returns. The news is somewhat surprising, especially when you consider the fact that Winn is an integral part of the show, and it's difficult to imagine seeing the character in a smaller capacity. Related: Supergirl Review Season 3 Episode 22 Review: Make It Reign Supergirl still has one episode of Season 3 left to air, and we will likely get more insight into why Winn is going to be featured less. Meanwhile, Jesse Wrath, who plays Brainiac-5 has been promoted to a series regular. “We love the character of Brainiac-5 and can’t imagine anyone but Jesse Rath in the role,” executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller said in a statement, via Deadline. “He brings such fun, heart and brilliance to Brainy and we’re so excited he’s joining the cast as a series regular for Season 4. We have a lot of great Brainy stories to tell.” Rath first appeared on Supergirl Season 3 as a member of the Legion of Superheroes, and quickly emerged as an asset to the team. He entered Kara's brain to find a way to bring her back to the land of the living after she was put in a vegetative state following her fight with Reign. The 100: Characters Who Deserve More Screen Time

All characters are very different; there are no two people on a show that standout in the same way. The 100 has gotten lucky in the way that all of their characters manage to imprint themselves in the fans hearts. The only issue? There are too many engaging characters and too much intense plot, which can sometimes result in a lack of screen time for some. This doesn't have to be alarming, but when you have a show like The 100 where even the smallest character intrigues the viewers that are watching it can end up feeling like there is someone missing. It really isn't a bad thing, far from it when you consider that more screen time is wanted for all these characters because they have already managed to capture the attention of the fans. And yet with The 100 Season 5 airing now, there have been some absences that have been felt way too hard. These are a few of the characters that have stolen our hearts and then disappeared in the blink of an eye. Have you seen these lovely characters? If so, please return to The 100 and their upcoming episodes. Related: The 100 Season 5 Episode 6 Review: Exit Wounds Harper When a beloved character starts to be considered a ghost, maybe it is time for her to get some scenes? But really, there could be simple placement reasons for why Harper wasn't around. First, the space group was in the forest far away from the action. They only reunited with the bunker at the end of The 100 Season 5 Episode 5, and while they had some scenes beforehand, it wasn't much when you consider what other characters had. Harper specifically was like this gaping hole, she was around, but it was like she didn't have much to offer beyond that. We all know that isn't true, which is why Exit Wounds being an episode that showcased everyone but she felt weak at best. She was there hanging out, and yet never actually saying anything or even engaging as Monty did. At the end when Echo was leaving there was this group goodbye, one that allowed everyone to hug Echo and yet Harper was just not included? Maybe the two are fighting, with Harper upset to hear that Echo lied about liking Monty's soup and chose to take that out by not saying goodbye. It makes sense that there are too many characters and not enough time to explore them all, the issue with Harper is that even when she gets scenes, they don't feel like they offer much of her. Harper so far has been Monty's girlfriend or someone's support system. I get it, this lovely lady gives great advice, and you want to hear it. But she is also a person who could have her own purpose or even just a skill that allows her to do something, anything. In the preview clip for Acceptable Losses, Harper is once again present, but she is there to listen to Bellamy. She offers up some words of comfort and mentions not liking Octavia, and yet you have to ask what that does for her character. View Slideshow: 13 TV Fri..

The Flash Season 5: Who Got Promoted?

The Flash returns for Season 5 later this year, and the show is keeping some fan-favorites around. According to TV Line, Hartley Sawyer has been upped to series regular for the upcoming season. Sawyer plays Ralph Dibney aka The Elongated Man on the superhero drama. The character debuted on The Flash Season 4 as one of the unlucky metas The Thinker was going after in order to absorb abilities. After joining Team Flash, he emerged as a hit with viewers and that's likely down to his fun-loving attitude. Related: The CW Fall Schedule: What's on the Move? He was even killed off in a shocking twist, but at least fans can rest easy knowing he will definitely be sticking around for some more fun. Meanwhile, Deadline broke the news that Danielle Nicolet has also been promoted to a series regular. Nicolet first debuted on the series back in 2015, and her role has grown ever more prominent over the years. Nicolet is the district attorney of Central City and is currently in a relationship with Joe West, so it makes sense that we will be seeing a lot more of her in the fall. The news comes on the heels of the news that Keiynan Lonsdale is exiting both The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow as Kid Flash. Related: The Flash Season 4 Episode 23 Review: We are the Flash Shortly after the news broke, he took to Instagram to share more details about his big decision. You can read his full statement below: Yo! Soo as a lot of you have now read, I’m not returning next season as a series regular for @cwtheflash or @cw_legendsoftomorrow. It’s definitely not a total goodbye or “see ya never” situation, cause Wally West will still be round when you need him the most! :) It’s just that it won’t be full time anymore. I’ve changed a lot in the past year (as you’ve probably noticed lol), and for infinite reasons my perspective on life & what I want from it now is just completely different. Related: Keynian Lonsdale Quits The Flash Because of that, my heart told me it was the right time to continue my journey on an unknown path, and I’m so damn grateful to both shows for honouring & respecting that with me. The Originals Promo: Will Hope Kill Elijah?

Hope is out for revenge on The Originals Season 5 Episode 9, and it results in the troubled teenager coming face to face with her uncle, Elijah. Hope still feels like Elijah is somewhat responsible for Hayley's death, and based on the below preview, Elijah is guilt-ridden. The difficult thing about it is that Hope apparently siphoned the Hollow's powers back from her family on The Originals Season 5 Episode 8. As a youngster, Hope's body couldn't fight all of that power, so there's a good chance her mind will be clogged up with the villain who terrorized everyone on The Originals Season 4. However, we don't know the true extent of Hope's abilities, so she could also be able to have the power inside her and use it to her advantage. We'll find out when the episode airs, but aside from the big meeting, there's a lot to look forward to. Vincent, Marcel and Josh band together to clean up the streets of New Orleans because the crazy weather that came as a result of the prophecy destroyed it. They will have to go up against a string of vampires who are dead set on keeping the fighting a thing. Have a look at the full preview below, and join us in the comments with your thoughts on it. 12 Monkeys Season 4: Terry Matalas Says It’s Like Three Movies and a Blockbuster!

When a show as monumentally crazy as 12 Monkeys comes to a close, it can be hard to talk about what to expect from the future without ruining things for the viewers. So when I spoke with Terry Matalas about 12 Monkeys Season 4, I kept it as vague as possible (except when I didn't, and I can't share that with you!). Matalas is one of the greatest guys in television, both creatively as evident with his vision for 12 Monkeys and with his kindness toward fans and people like me. check out a condensed version of our conversation below and prepare to be awed when 12 Monkeys returns TONIGHT on Syfy! What can you talk about with a show we don't want to spoil? I think you're in the last epic chapter of this series where there's a lot of questions and there needs to be a lot of answers, and I think that's what Season 4 is about. And it's about these characters coming together for one last battle. Related: 12 Monkeys Season 3 Finale Review: Will The Real Witness Please Stand Up I was surprised with what I've seen of the new season and the feeling of hope that prevails. It's hard to put into words, but it may be because they aren't guessing at a goal and I wondered if it was done on purpose. Well, I think they know they have to work together if they're going to beat this thing, which is something they never really ... They are going to have to become this family to take down the Army of the 12 Monkeys, so maybe that's what you're feeling. How much of the story did you have going into all of this and how much of it was plotted out as you went along? We didn't really wing it. Before each season we always had a plan, but before Season 3 we needed to know how exactly it was going to end because there were scenes from Season 4 in Season 3 because it's time travel, so we needed to know exactly where we were going. So we had to be really far ahead. And did it help to film them together? Because that's what you did, right, film them concurrently and together? It does help. It also adds a mental exhaustion factor to it all. This show does require a lot of brain power and certainly to keep that going in every department from writing to props to actors to music, it's just not a traditional television show by any stretch of the imagination. As the first set of episodes comes up, what can you tease for people about what they can expect for the first set of three? It's going to be... each one of these nights is sort of like its own movie, so you're going to get a nice little summer blockbuster leading to a giant one at the end on night four. So there's going to be a lot of emotion because everybody's facing the end, and a lot of answers to seasons, series-long questions. How did that work out last year for the episodes airing over a weekend as it did? I think it was a noble experiment. I think ambitious and it was cool that they trie..

The Sinner Season 2 Trailer: A Harrowing New Case Begins

When The Sinner returns for Season 2, it will be with a brand new case and a mostly fresh-faced cast. USA Network has dropped the first full-length trailer for the new run, and it looks set to be just as captivating as The Sinner Season 1. In the explosive first look, we are introduced to an 11-year-old boy who allegedly killed his parents by poisoning them. In true murder mystery fashion, nothing is as it seems, and questions arise about whether the boy was being cared for. But it also looks like the plot will take us away from the family to others in the community who could have something to gain by killing the family and pinning it on an 11-year-old kid. In any case, the kid seems to think he carried out the killing, but how long will it take before he cracks? Season 2 will feature the return of Bill Pullman as Harry Ambrose. Season 1's central female star, Jessica Biel will not be returning in front of the screen. Instead, she'll be executive producing the new run. Carrie Coon joins the cast as Vera, a cult leader who knows much about the town's myriad of secrets, but will she be part of them? All told, have a look at the full trailer below and join me in the comments with your thoughts on it. Remember you can watch The Sinner online right here via TV Fanatic. Then Sinner returns August 1.
