The Flash’s Midseason Premiere Might Alter the Course of the Series Forever

The Flash returns from its holiday hiatus next week, and it sure sounds like there will be some big changes in store. The CW has unveiled the official synopsis for the midseason premiere, The Flash Season 5 Episode 10, and it hints that the show could be entering uncharted territory. It reads: While Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) grapples with the revelation that Thawne (Tom Cavanagh) killed her grandmother, Team Flash must stop the formidable team-up of a newly sprung from jail Weather Witch (guest star Reina Hardesty) and Silver Ghost (guest star Gabrielle Walsh), a new meta-tech villain who can control engines and motorized technology. Meanwhile, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) discuss creating a metahuman cure. We're obviously talking about the "metahuman cure" here. Metahumans are those who find themselves with superhuman abilities. Some of them use them for good, and others use them for bad. Given that the show's main villains are metahumans, it's hard to imagine Caitlin and Cisco finding a cure ... at least before the series finale. Related: The CW Confirms Midseason Schedule Then again, The Flash is part of the Arrowverse, which also includes Arrow, Supergirl, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. If a cure were to come to light, it would change the course of the entire Arrowverse, and while the universe could do with some new tricks, it's unlikely that the discussions will lead to much ... at least in the coming weeks. That said, it's certainly exciting that Caitlin and Cisco are thinking about a long-term plan to keep the world safe. The cure is not going to be something that will materialize overnight, and it could present some intriguing plots if metahumans get wind of the plan. Will the villains want to be cured or will they seek to take out those who are looking for a way to do so? Related: The Flash Review -- What's Past is Prologue Alas, we'll need to wait until the show's big return on January 15 to find out how all of this plays out. Okay, The Flash Fanatics. The 100: Expanding On Bellamy Blake’s Romantic Life (And Its Value)

Bellamy Blake is the male lead character on The 100, and yet throughout the show's five-year run, the romance in his life has left plenty to be desired. Now, to have an Asian male lead like Bellamy Blake is rare, and on top of that, this is a character that has subverted the trope of desexualized Asian men in media. Alongside Monty Green, Bellamy Blake has been written into a position where he is a love interest and can be viewed as such both within the show and outside of it because The 100 explores just that. And yet, Bellamy is one of the few characters on the show that hasn't been in a prolonged romantic relationship that got the attention that it deserves. That absence of focus on Bellamy Blake's romantic life becomes even more evident when comparing his female counterpart, Clarke Griffin. She has had three people during the show that she has been together with in some way, with some relationships still being discussed two seasons later. The issue gets worse when Bellamy gets a love interest or two. Both times it is used for shock value, as a plot device, or as a way to further someone else's story instead of his own. There is not enough evident care being put into Bellamy's love life, and maybe the show's aversion to romance is to blame. But as we are nearing the sixth season of The 100, it becomes more and more clear that the real reason might be that there's no awareness of the value there. Bellamy Blake is the lead, and his storylines matter much like his female counterpart's, especially when you consider that he is offering representation that is still scarcely unavailable on most network TV shows. It isn't fair that for Bellamy Blake to (possibly) have his own rich story each season regarding the overarching plot; he can't have a prolonged romantic relationship. But if he gets offered a chance to have a love interest, it blows up because he becomes a guest star in his own story. Is The 100 unable to offer their leads a healthy and long-term romantic relationship in fear of "ruining" the plot? Or is Bellamy Blake viewed as a scapegoat for the development of many of the white women on The 100? Or is the show’s inability to admit the slow burn relationship that they are exploring to blame for Bellamy Blake’s romantic life not feeling valued enough? Related: 10 Most Important Episodes for Bellamy and Clarke's Partnership Lack of Romance The one constant when it comes to Bellamy Blake is the chemistry that he has with other characters on the show. It is inevitable with this character, which could be another defining reason why it is ridiculous that we haven't seen him in a romantic situation that the audience would root for. It feels like the case could be made for Bellamy to be with just about anybody; offer the build-up and let the journey flow with care, and you can have a successful romance for him. But the emphasis has to be on prioritizing..

Chrissy Metz Denies Calling Alison Brie a ‘Bitch’ During Golden Globes Pre-Show

Chrissy Metz is not impressed with the internet. The This Is Us actress took to social media to shut down reports that she called Alison Brie a "bitch" during the Golden Globes' pre-show on Facebook Live. "It's terribly unfortunate anyone would think much less run a story that was completely fabricated," she tweeted while sharing an article that implied said the b-word to the Glow star. "I adore Alison and would never say a bad word about her, or anyone! I sure hope she knows my heart." The article in question was tweeted by US Weekly. The tweet was swiftly removed as a result of the backlash from fans of the actress. It all started during the aforementioned pre-show when Metz was asked about Brie. Related: Golden Globes 2019: All the TV Winners! "Do you know a girl named Alison Brie?" a co-host asked Metz while Brie was on the red carpet. "Well I hear she's at the other end of the carpet," Metz responded. While the video footage switched to the incoming Glow actress, viewers could still hear Chrissy chatting and the following line is where everyone started to question what was said: "I'm like, do I? She's such a....," Metz said as the feed came to close. Many have been up in arms about what was said, but it certainly didn't sound like the word "bitch" was uttered from Chrissy. Vanity Fair reporter Nicole Sperling later shared on social media that she asked Brie about this little mixup on the red carpet and confirmed the actress was "very confused by the entire matter." “I’m so distraught and upset,” Metz went on to tell People of the incident. “I don’t speak about anyone like that. I don’t speak like that. I love Alison, I follow her. … When I was walking up they said, ‘Do you know Alison,’ and I said, ‘Oh boy, do I.’ I love her.'” Okay, TV Fanatics.
