Criminal Minds Season 14 Episode 11 Review: Night Lights

The good news was that Matthew Gray Gubler returned from whatever personal project on which he was working. That meant that Reid was back from his teaching sabbatical to help out on Criminal Minds Season 14 Episode 11. What does this mean in real terms? Well, Reid being there makes any episode better. Why? I'd have to say believability. When Reid proclaims something, it just feels right. He's the master of minutia. It also comes down to a viewer's comfort zone. I'm more likely to accept a conclusion from Reid, Rossi, JJ, and Prentiss because, well, they've put in the time. They're the veteran profilers. Lewis, Alvez, and Simmons seem perfectly capable, but we haven't been getting to know them for a decade. To me, Lewis feels like a professor, with Alvez and Simmons seeming more like cops. And likely they'll never get the chance to reach veteran-profiler status. Related: Criminal Minds Season 14 Episode 10 Review: Flesh and Blood It is no one's fault. Change is bound to happen on any long-running series. Everyone has their favorite Law & Order lineup (any unit with Jerry Orbach) or CSI team (it was on borrowed time after William Peterson left). And not all shows can transition as seamlessly as M*A*S*H (kids, ask your parents). Reid provides that wunderkind feel, offering a detailed analysis of the pros and cons of exposure therapy or exclaiming "Addresses" after looking at a table covered with numbers. That never gets old. Unlike some, I won't just turn off an episode because Matthew is off doing some indy art film which he finds more creatively satisfying. The rest of the cast deserves better than that. Anyway, let's hope Reid is sticking around for the handful of episodes remaining this season. Criminal Minds needs that extra 20 percent or so of enjoyment that he provides on each episode in which he appears. Frankly, I can't blame Gubler for stepping out for about a third of the season. How many times can one get psyched for yet another unsub taking vengeance on the people that he perceived as wronging him? Related: Watch Criminal Minds Online: Season 14 Episode 10 I mean, CSI died because viewers got tired of watching close-ups of hair and fiber. Follow the evidence. Got it. Yes, Dustin didn't get the help he needed from his doctor and his parents. And things went downhill from there because people don't have any choice in the direction that their lives take. Does that give him the right to kill not just the doctor and his parents, but the doctor's wife and a couple of strangers in the wrong place at the wrong time? No, not really. So, for a change, bucking the pattern of this season, it was difficult to feel sorry for the unsub. They get points for the creative use of the doorbell camera in the opening scene. It's good to see those cameras are useful for something more than thwarting porch pirates like providing one bizarre..

Vikings Season 5 Episode 16 Review: The Buddha

Characters are dropping like flies! Margarethe, The Seer, Heahmund -- and now Aethelred succumbed on Vikings Season 5 Episode 16 by the hands of his mother, no less. How will Alfred react when he recovers from his illness and discovers his brother is dead? He's probably not going to be too happy, especially if he suspects Judith murdered him. She must have a plan to cover it up, but Alfred is smart enough to see through it. He was ready to forgive his brother and move on, but he was also unconscious when the kingdom surrounded Aethelred with support. Judith made an impossible decision, but she felt she didn't have any other choice if she wanted to protect the king. Choosing one son over the other though; that's pretty harsh. Judith: I don't believe you have ever accepted your brother as king. I don't think you ever would. You would always be a danger to him. Aethelred: So you poisoned me? Permalink: So you poisoned me? Added: January 01, 2019 Bjorn is a man who's never satisfied being stagnant. While Ivar is sitting on his throne and Ubbe prepares to settle and farm the new land they've gotten, Bjorn is onto his next battle, his next challenge. Vikings Season 5 Episode 15 Review: Hell He's not one to revel in his victory and settle down. He craves adventure, and there is always another battle to be fought. Now, he's joining forces with Harald to reclaim Kattegat from Ivar. But, what will he do if he's successful? Bjorn doesn't strike me as the type who wants to spend his days ruling a kingdom, but there's also no way in hell he's letting Harald rule his home. Maybe he thinks that if he wins back Kattegat, Lagertha will return. Where is Lagertha? It's still entirely possible that she is someone's prisoner, but now that Bjorn is teaming up with King Harald, it's looking less likely that he had anything to do with her disappearance. She may have left on her own accord, but she was wounded, and it's hard to believe she could have gotten very far on her own. Torvi doesn't believe she would leave without reason. Was seeing Heahmund struck down enough to drive her away? I don't know what happened to her, but I hope we don't have to wait too long to find out. While Bjorn and Harald plan to overthrow Ivar, Ivar wants to return to England and take on King Alfred. Of course, he wants to do that with Harald's help, but unfortunately for him, Bjorn got there first. Now is the right time for Bjorn to attack. Ivar is as vulnerable as he'll most likely ever be. He plans to wait until spring, after his baby is born, before returning to England. He won't be expecting Harald and Bjorn to attack him first. The Talk: Carrie Ann Inaba Officially Confirmed as Julie Chen’s Replacement

Carrie Ann Inaba is the latest addition to The Talk. CBS confirmed Wednesday that the Dancing with the Stars judge would be the permanent replacement for Julie Chen who exited the talk show late last year. Inaba made her first appearance on Wednesday and joins a panel that already includes Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Eve. “Having the opportunity to sit at the table with Eve, Sara, Sharon and Sheryl has been such an enriching experience, and I’m honored and looking forward to joining them daily,” Inaba said in a statement. Related: Julie Chen Exits The Talk “It’s the authentic conversations and connection with the audience and the ladies that really drew me to The Talk. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this show.” Angelica McDaniel, executive vice president of daytime programs at CBS, added, “Everyone’s Talk-ing about it, and I’m excited to confirm it. We’re welcoming Carrie Ann Inaba to the Talk table." "Carrie Ann connects with audiences by being genuine. We appreciate her warmth, heart and vulnerability, and love what she brings to the show.” Inaba has been a judge on ABC's Dancing with the Stars since 2005 and has already appeared multiple times on The Talk over the last year. Chen exited the show just a few months ago and revealed she was bowing out in a video statement that came following her husband, Leslie Moonves, leaving his perch as CBS CEO after multiple allegations of sexual misconduct were lodged against him. Chen was thankful for her time on the show, but said she needed “to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son.” Despite leaving The Talk, Chen will return to host Celebrity Big Brother next month and the regular edition this summer. Gotham: Cory Michael Smith on Ed’s Evolution and “Shocking” Reveals

We all know Gotham Season 5 is going to be insane. When we last left The Riddler, he and Lee and killed each other in a bizarre, yet romantic Romeo and Juliet moment. Penguin had taken them to Professor Strange to work his magic. Riddler now finds himself in a state of confusion, blacking out with no knowledge of where he's been or what he's done. At the New York Comic Con this past Fall, Cory Michael Smith sat down to share his thoughts on Ed's evolution and what we can expect from him in the new and final season of Gotham. Related: Gotham Season Finale: No Man's Land He said Jim, Penguin, and Riddler will once again cross paths and it's going to be an "intense environment." "Gotham breeds crazy," he said, "and it requires crazy to survive." He adds, "There are some events that really rock Gotham, and it's really shocking when you realize who's responsible and who's controlling things." That's quite the tease, and we can't wait to see how it's all going to end. Related: Gotham Final Season Trailer: Get Ready for Insanity Check out Smith's interview below for more insight. Sex Education Trailer: Experience is Overrated!

Netflix is dialing up the awkward for its new dramedy, Sex Education. The streamer has dropped the official trailer for the upcoming series, and it looks more engaging than I thought it would be based on the logline. "Surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis is a reluctant expert on the subject," reads the official logline. Related: The X-Files: Gillian Anderson Quits! "When his home life is revealed at school, Otis realizes that he can use his specialist knowledge to gain status." "He teams up with Maeve, a whip-smart bad-girl, and together they set up an underground sex therapy clinic to deal with their fellow students’ weird and wonderful problems." "Through his analysis of teenage sexuality, Otis realizes he may need some therapy of his own." Asa Butterfield (Merlin) will take on the role of Otis Milburn, while Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) will play his sex therapist mother, Jean. With everyone at the school learning about Jean's profession, well, it's refreshing that Otis is using it to his advantage instead of becoming a pariah. Netflix previously revealed the show's eight-part first season will get underway Friday, January 11. Have a look at the full trailer below, and hit the comments with your thoughts on it!
