Outlander Season 4 Episode 3 Review: The False Bride

There is something difficult to share with this fandom, but every so often the reminder becomes too great to sit on it. There were instances during Outlander Season 4 Episode 3 poked the hornet's nest, so here goes: I still struggle to like Claire. Others I know have the same problem. There are two reasons it stood out during "The False Bride." The first was Claire's goodbye scene with Aunt Jocasta, and the second was Claire/Jamie and Brianna/Roger sharing a lot of screen time in different centuries. From what I understand, the stay at River Run as written was three months which would have given a lot of time for the family to get to know each other. As there are few people the Frasers know in the New World, growing close with Aunt Jocasta should have been a different experience. What in the book was seminal but hardly the point of their visit became the focal point, and it ruined any chance for Claire and Aunt Jocasta to get to know each other beyond Claire's terrible decision to push her beliefs on a way of life she didn't understand. Related: Outlander Season 4 Episode 1 Review: America the Beautiful She swooped in and right back out, creating chaos for all involved without even cracking a smile or having a kind word beyond "thanks for your hospitality" for the closest woman to Jamie's mother. Frankly, I hated everything about that production choice. If such choices can and are being made to change the books, then why not wait for a similar message about slavery for another time when it wouldn't so negatively affect everything with Aunt Jocasta? The need to pull everything negative from the books except the sex is having an impact on the overall picture. Frankly, I can't even remember why Jamie and Claire fell in love. At the very least, Claire listened to Jocasta when the older woman wondered if Claire thinks about what makes Jamie happy. Claire does tend to railroad Jamie's life. The man is smitten in a way any woman in the world in any time would find overwhelming. Claire kind of takes advantage of it because she knows there aren't men like that anymore in the future. Related: Outlander Stars on Their Interesting, Relatable Couple and Upcoming Emotional Roller Coaster! Even though she has it all, Claire rarely smiles radiantly at her husband. She mostly stands by and approves or disapproves of his decisions. Other than their sex life, she's more of a mother figure to Jamie than a romantic partner. She's always been an older woman, and she's never grown around it. In contrast, her very different daughter, genetically an undeniable combination of her mother and father, Brianna manages the smiles and the radiance usually reserved to her father, but she also manages to push away the man she loves with enough veracity to prove she's her mother's daughter. That's not to say Claire has pushed away her second husband; she has not. But becau..

Days of Our Lives Round Table: Should Abigail EVER Forgive Chad?

Hope and Rafe told Ben he was set up by Wyatt, Paul finally learned the truth about Will’s feelings for Sonny, and Chad locked Abigail away and gave baby Charlotte to Stefan this week on Days of Our Lives. Our TV Fanatics, Jack Ori and Christine Orlando, are joined by Tony and Tinab from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum to debate if everyone’s being naive about Ben, should Abigail ever forgive Chad, the lack of rootable couples in Salem, and more! Was Wyatt right, is Claire being naive about Ben? Tony: I don’t think so. Or, at least, I would hope not. We’ll see. Tinab: The writing for Ben has changed so much and he has become so likable. I think he is “reformed”. Jack: Yes and no. Ben certainly has shown a capacity for violence, and it's naive to assume he's just been cured and isn't ever going to act violently again. True Crime Files by Investigation Discovery Related: Get True Crime Files by ID via Prime Video Channels for Over 1,000 Real-life Mystery & Suspense Shows! At the same time, Wyatt, like everyone else, is assuming the worst of Ben. I think we're supposed to be wondering if Ben will turn evil again, but considering the fact that the writers are making it obvious that Ben and Ciara are endgame, I doubt that's the case. Christine: Yes. The man murdered multiple people! I understand that he may have had an undiagnosed mental illness, and I’m thrilled he’s getting the treatment he needs, but I think Claire and Ciara are foolish not to be wary. View Slideshow: 21 TV Characters Who Could Use A Therapist Are Will and Sonny each other’s great loves, the way the show has built them up to be? Tony: While I do enjoy the couple, I don’t think that they’re necessarily as amazing as the show makes them out to be. They get major points for being Days first male gay wedding, but other than that, they’re just okay. Tinab: I don’t think so. They were unhappy and unfaithful before will lost his memory and odds are that will happen again Jack: When will these writers ever learn that having characters say things in dialogue isn't enough to convince viewers? I don't buy the Will/Sonny love story anymore. When they had their first run, I did, but this time around Sonny has been alternating between pushy and pathetic, and Will magically fell for him again minutes after telling him that having his memories back changed nothing. That is not a love story. Will seems more like someone who can't make up his mind and Sonny like someone who doesn't know how to be alone than anything else. Christine: They were once a really enjoyable love story and the first time around I rooted for them. But the show seems determined to sweep all of the lies and the cheating under the rug to get them back together. Now, Will is wishy-washy and Sonny has become pathetically needed. It’s difficult to find a great love story in any of that. Chad turned over Charlotte to Stefan in order to h..

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 Episode 10 Review: The Witching Hour

It gets worse before it gets better, although in Sabrina's case it is like there is no silver lining left to look out for. In an almost ironic turn of events, everything that Sabrina feared is brought to Greendale and she has no choice but to accept what she was trying to escape this entire time. During Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 Episode 10, the Dark Lord finally found a way to get Sabrina to sign the Book of the Beat. Madam Satan manages to convince her to do it in the name of her family and her friends, with the witches threatening the lives of everyone at Greendale. But the aftermath of Sabrina's decision ends with her cutting off all communication with her friends and with Harvey. The future of many characters was left up in the air. More importantly, though, the possibilities for the next season seem endless now, with Sabrina's sudden shift leaving not only Nick surprised. "Chapter Ten: The Witching Hour," written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Ross Maxwell did a full circle back to the beginning, mimicking Sabrina's worries about signing her name away. In true twisted fashion, everything that was predicted when she bit into that apple was a glimpse into the future that no one saw coming. It is even more enlightening when you consider how Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 was a continuous build-up to Sabrina's breaking point. Every problem that came up, every decision she was forced to make, it was all a domino effect that pushed her closer and closer to the Dark Lord's side. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Review: A Burial and a Ressurection Sabrina's Season Twist Is Season 2 here yet? Sabrina having to sign her name away was traumatic enough, especially when it was something she predicted from the very beginning and none of us were able to connect the dots fully. It is confusing why Sabrina was so worried about what this "newly awakened" dark side would do to her and the ones she loved. To be fair, most of the season was spent on her making the exact decisions she was worried she would be forced to do. I know you’re scared, Sabrina. Because all women are taught to fear power. Own it. Madam Satan Permalink: I know you’re scared, Sabrina. Because all women are taught to fear power. Own it. Added: October 26, 2018 And in a way, Madam Satan truly was manipulating her every step. But Sabrina didn't need to partake in half of the things she chose to, the most chilling was Harvey's brother's resurrection and trying to find his soul to return back to him. This was all Sabrina, and in fact, when we meet her during Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 Episode 1, she is onboard with torturing her principal without much worry. This isn't to say that she didn't make choices that made sense, just that the Dark Lord proved to her that he didn't need to literally force her hand. With the right manipulation and enough stakes on the lin..

General Hospital: What If’s & Bully’s

It was all about what if's and shocking bullies in Port Charles this week. There have been mixed reactions to the stand-alone Sonny episode, where he dreamed of what life would have been like if he had not gone to work for Joe Scully. It was a special episode dedicated to Maurice Benard, who recently celebrated 25-years at General Hospital playing Sonny Corinthos. Fans got a bonus when Benard's real-life son Joshua played a young Sonny. Having Sonny be a cop and Dante be the one who got involved in organized crime was perfection. Their relationship has always been rocky at best because Dante didn't respect his father's life choices. As it turns out his oldest son wouldn't have respected Sonny's life choices, even if he had led a cleaner lifestyle. Instead of appreciating his working-class father, Dante was the one who craved the money and power. Having Dominic Zamprogna back as Dante was a gift for fans. He is sorely missed. What an outstanding job he did playing the character as essentially a version of Sonny. Dante's dark, greedy, and power-hungry side was a great twist from his standard squeaky clean image. Related: Get Shudder via Prime Video Channels for Spine-Tingling & Provocative Films, TV Series & Originals! Maurice Benard per usual shined as he portrayed a different take on a character he has played for years. He showed Sonny's vulnerable side and made him much more soft-spoken. The one constant between the two Sonny's was his love for his children. It was unsettling to see Ava with Jason, as well as Sam embracing her mob daughter/wife role. However, it all part of what life would have been like if Sonny never came to Port Charles. I loved how fierce, don't mess with me Anna Devane was turned into a woman just going through the motions of life because Robin died years ago. Learning Robin died of AIDS because there was no Sonny to build a wing in Stone's memory or anyone to help teach her about the disease, was a fantastic shock. Sonny has impacted several people's lives since he came to Port Charles. Robin's death was a perfect example of how his presence has helped those he loves. It was also a fabulous reminder of how much GH has done with HIV and AIDS over the years. View Slideshow: Days of Our Lives: 13 Things That Only Happen in Salem In the end, Sonny learned regardless of his life choices there would still be consequences he would have to endure. For example, he still ended up shooting Dante. The episode also proved even if Sonny had made a different decision regarding his line of work, it doesn't mean his life would have been better. I thought the episode showed how many people's lives are better because of Sonny's choices. Everyone wonders what might have been, but in Sonny’s case, I think he made the right decision. Then again, I am a huge fan of Sonny, Carly, Jason and the rest of those involved with ..

Days of Our Lives Review: Will The Good Guys Ever Win?

It's a soap staple that things have to get worse before they get better. When done right that makes for compelling storytelling. But with this awful Gabi/Stefan/Abby/Chad storyline on Days of our Lives, the latest developments are just sickening. During the week of 11-12-18, Chad turned the baby over to Abigail's rapist, who helped him commit totally sane Abby to a mental ward. Will this awful storyline ever end? Marci Miller has done an amazing job selling Abigail's pain, anger, and sense of betrayal as she was dragged away to a mental hospital thanks to Stefan and Chad's deal. I couldn't help thinking that if this was a properly written story it would be amazing. There's so much drama to be had in the story of having to accept the deterioration of a loved one's mental health to the point where she has to be confined to a hospital. But instead, these developments made a mockery of the whole thing. Related: Days of Our Lives: Why Social Messaging Matters There was not a shred of evidence that Abigail's mental health was deteriorating. She appeared perfectly sane and exactly like her normal self to everyone who loved her. She was committed to a mental hospital because Gabi and Kate said she was violent without any real evidence that she was or that her issues couldn't be resolved using outpatient therapy. No psychiatrist was ever involved. And Chad, who is supposed to be the love of Abigail's life, believed she was losing her mind because Gabi said so, despite the evidence to the contrary in front of his eyes. After Chad helped Abigail give birth, he seemed to realize that she was the same woman he had fallen in love with. But then he changed his mind and made a deal with Stefan to get her committed because he had a nightmare about the Gabby alter returning. Abby certainly is not responsible for what she does in Chad's dreams! If that's his basis for thinking her DIssociative Identity Disorder is no longer under control, then he's the one who needs help. And on top of that, Chad knows Stefan raped Abby -- at least on days when he's thinking clearly. But he willingly handed over a child to her rapist, to the brother he fears is dangerous to his entire family, just to get Abby committed. Everyone keeps giving Chad a pass on kidnapping Abby and on making this awful deal because he loves her and thinks he's protecting her. But if this is love, I'd hate to see what he'd do if he hated Abby! Abigail: You believed me enough to try to go search Gabi's purse, which means there's a part of you which believes that what I'm saying is possible. JJ: Gabi's admitted that she's angry, but to go as far as framing you... she swears that all she wants is what's best for you. Abigail: And Gabi's never lied before? Has she never gone extreme? I think you know that's not true. What's best for me in Gabi'..

Deutschland86 Season 2 Episode 10 Review: Total Onslaught

Thank the heavens that there's a third season of this incredible series coming our way because I'm already ready for all the new twists and turns that are sure to be headed our way. And if there was ever a twist I never saw coming in a MILLION YEARS, it was the one involving ROSE AND HARTMANN! Are you kidding me?! Forget about Martin's baby drama, I'm going to be riding that Rose and Hartmann wave for a long, long time. As much as I was turned off by the whole Rose storyline (probably more along the lines that I wasn't getting how it all fit in), it all came together on Deutschland86 Season 2 Episode 9 and Deutschland86 Season 2 Episode 10 with that shocker. Rose and Hartmann. I just can't get over it. Related: Get Britbox via Prime Video Channels for the biggest streaming collection of TV from BBC & ITV...ever. Hartmann always came across as being somewhat western-minded especially when he presented his camping out night idea to the committee as a way to boost morale. But how did he get connected with Rose? Could she have decided to use him to accomplish her goals after he showed her the equipment she'd be using for the mission? I might have missed it, but he was showing her that stuff because, at that time, the South African mission was going to be funded by East Germany, right? I didn't get the impression he was always working with Rose and Lenora independently. He never came across as that type of guy -- which is one of the reasons why that reveal was so shocking! I'm starting to believe that Rose and Hartmann were never working together until after Lenora's deal failed. Lenora was no longer useful to Rose, and she moved on. Hartmann was an easy target, too, just for the fact that he was so open-minded. Related: Get Walter Presents via Prime Video Channels for Original, Exclusive, Hit Series from Around the World! I can only imagine that Rose used every ounce of her charm and more to convince him to help her. It wasn't clear if she was able to get the weapons since the ship had turned back before the raid, but I'm guessing that she somehow got hold of the weapons when she was on the dock during all the melee. Otherwise, why would she have been there? And why would Gary Banks have shown up? He knew something funky was going on, but Rose was way ahead of him. Hartmann and Rose may be a thing now, but once Hartmann is no longer useful, he'll just become a memory in Rose's mind. Poor Lenora thought she had found true love and maybe even a way out of the "life", but she was wrong. Her entire world has been turned upside down. Her only hope is that the BND will have mercy on her if she cooperates with their interrogation. So much must be going through her head. She may have been worried about Rose, but it's probably starting to dawn on her that that dream was a little too good to be true. Related: Get PBS Masterpiece via Pr..
