Midnight, Texas Season 2 Episode 4 Review: I Put a Spell On You

Who wouldn't want parents like Lem and Olivia? Olivia might have balked at the idea of becoming a mom on Midnight, Texas Season 2 Episode 4, but it didn't take her long to form a bond with Mary -- and that might have changed her mind completely. We've known for some time that Olivia had a rough childhood, and the idea of having kids wasn't at the top of Olivia's mind. But when Mary entered their lives, Olivia found that becoming a mom wasn't so bad. Even though she was only a "mom' to Mary for a couple of days, she formed a quick bond with the girl. Olivia experienced all the fun of being a parent without the drama, although she did find the hours of toddler Mary a little challenging -- as most parents do. Maybe she should have limited the junk food. Related: Get Starz via Prime Video Channels for Captivating Original Series & Hit Movies! Although Olivia didn't seem too thrilled about her new responsibilities, she was able to connect better when Mary became a teen. Olivia doesn't give herself enough credit. She'd be a great mom in all ways but especially as a mom of a teenage girl -- think of all the shopping and fashion parties to be had! She's a good role model, even if she doesn't realize it, and she made a strong impression on Mary. Olivia's words of advice about being strong are going to stay with Mary forever. Everything Mary experienced with Olivia is going to stay with her forever. And Mary left a strong impression on Olivia. Olivia doesn't show her vulnerable side much -- if ever -- but it came pouring out after Mary left with her dad. A lot of it had to do with the fact that the whole experience opened up some old wounds she had with her parents. Her mom spent more time drugging than being a mom, and her dad? Well, we still don't know much about that relationship. Still, Olivia delved into those wounds and was able to do so because of Lem and her trust in him. Olivia has a habit of putting up a wall and burying the things she doesn't want to deal with, but Lem has been breaking down that wall piece by piece for years. Mary coming into their lives practically blew that wall into smithereens. Olivia and Lem are going to make great parents when the time comes, but first Olivia needs to clean out her wounds. She's a lucky woman to have Lem by her side. Lem is incredible. He proved that he's not the guy to bet against when he went challenged other supernaturals at the gypsy fight ring. How many supernaturals did Lem fight without hardly any effort? Even when Lem looked like he was down for the count, it was only part of the act to stretch things out until the other Midnighters were able to free Mary from her cage because he wiped the floor once he got the signal from Manfred that it was time to go. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 6 Review: I See You

Unlikely friendships come from unexpected trips. Pairing off the most unlikely people for various adventures was the perfect way for many of them to confront something they haven't realized about themselves. During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 6, three different road trips bring the most unlikely pairings together. Darryl and Rebecca head out to a food place they both wanted to try, attempting to avoid stepping into the wrong topic of conversation along the way. Heather ends up giving Nathaniel a ride when his car breaks down, and she ends up finding out more about him. Meanwhile, Paula needs to pick up a desk and ends up going with her least favorite person, Josh. "I See You," written by Jack Dolgen was an inventive way to change things up. Letting characters grow sometimes means putting them in situations with other people that they might not usually spend time with. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend accomplished that, and it even managed to throw some surprises in there. Who would have thought that Darryl would lose his mustache?! Related: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 5 Review Nathaniel and Heather Ever since Nathaniel and Rebecca broke up he has been in a desperate need for a reality check. Having him pair off with Heather allowed Nathaniel to go through some personal growth, but it also served as a reminder that a lot of his decisions are rooted in self-preservation. Nathaniel cares and yet he forgets to show it in any kind natured way. The way he shows his appreciation is limited, and he needs to work on it if he will ever find that better version of himself. Here is your burger and cabbage. They call it the No One Wants That. Heather Permalink: Here is your burger and cabbage. They call it the No One Wants That. Added: November 09, 2018 In fact, Nathaniel was just one example of the broader spectrum of characters that are using this season to look within and improve before they can move forward in any direction. Nathaniel's past is riddled with trauma and pain, but it can't reflect on his present-day attitude which he learned from the one person who wasn't usually going to associate with him. This allowed for an outsider perspective because Heather owes nothing to him and because of that makes sure he hears the harsh truth. The same could be said for her, with Nathaniel pointing out that she could afford to get a better car in his own special way. These are all the same ways that Nathaniel shows he cares, not knowing how to go beyond that sarcastic side comments, much like with Burt. Nathaniel: I’ve been trying to get an Uber but these idiot drivers keep canceling on me. Heather: You must have a bad rating. Nathaniel: The ratings go both ways? Socialists. Permalink: The ratings go both ways? Socialists. Added: November 09, 2018 There is progress to be made there though, especially with his relationship with the other owner of the firm. It is obvious that Burt cares for him, ..

Blue Bloods Season 9 Episode 8 Review: Stirring the Pot

The Reagan family is extraordinary in many ways and that was on display on Blue Bloods Season 9 Episode 8. But while they are exceptional, they aren't perfect. Even Danny's loyalty to a friend on the job had its flaws. Should Danny have lied for Tommy? I was torn. I can't imagine what it's like to voluntarily put yourself in harm's way on a regular basis as part of your job and Tommy had been doing that for decades without an issue. So should one moment of fear in the field brand him as a coward and end his career? I suppose that would depend on the reason he froze, and that reason eclipsed his love for being a cop. Related: Get CBS All Access via Prime Video Channels for Hit Shows, Exclusive Originals & Live TV! But why did Sid show up to speak to Danny? He kept insisting that Danny was going to go down with Tommy, but how if they needed Danny's testimony and Danny stuck to their story? Was there a recording of Danny and Tommy's conversation? I couldn't quite make sense about why Sid seemed so sure that Danny's career was also going to go down in flames. In the end, Tommy did the right thing, which was refreshing. I don't know how many people would walk away from a long career, especially when they have huge medical bills to pay off at home. Elsewhere, we were once again subjected to Frank and Erin figuratively coming to blows over her new position in the DA's office. Considering Frank's speech at the end, and I had no idea that's where the tradition of players shaking one another's hands comes from, I'm guessing we're going to see these skirmishes pop up throughout Blue Blood Season 9. I started off seeing both sides of this argument. Why have a law if you aren't going to enforce it? But Erin had a point too. With the system already overwhelmed, it could be worth not prosecuting marijuana possession, especially since it seems to be a law that's on its way out, in order to use their limited resources to prosecute more serious crimes. Frank: How many times is that son of a bitch going to send you to take his heat? Erin: You mean the District Attorney? Frank: Yeah, if he’s going to pursue this ridiculous marijuana policy he ought to have the balls to show up himself. Erin: Well, in that case, the right son of a bitch is here. It’s my policy, not his. Permalink: Well, in that case, the right son of a bitch is here. It’s my policy, not his. Added: November 16, 2018 I loved that Erin took responsibility for the new policy and kept her head while Frank became more agitated. While I agree that the DA's office should have had a meeting to get input from the NYPD on this new policy, I thought that Frank having his officers ditch their court appearances for a day was petty and vindictive. Hawaii Five-0 Season 9 Episode 8 Review: Lele pu na manu like (Birds of a Feather)

This was no A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Still, there was a heartfelt examination of family holidays on Hawaii Five-0 Season 9 Episode 8. We got to spend most of Thanksgiving with the extended Grover family, who seemed to be right out of a Tyler Perry film (the Madea ones, not his serious works). Then there was that other extended family, Five-0 (minus Danny), and Kamekona and his staff. Even the case of the week had a Thanksgiving connection. It was largely a victimless crime, despite the accidental death which drew Five-0 into it. With Lou Gossett, Gladys Knight and Clifton Powell portraying them, how could anybody not like the Grover family? Related: Hawaii Five-0 Season 9 Episode 7 Review: The Smoke Seen in the Dream Now Rises Gossett maturing into granddad roles makes me feel old, but he was a hoot as the forgetful old man who still slyly dispensed pearls of wisdom (I also enjoyed the quick nod to "An Officer and a Gentleman"). Gladys Knight was also fun as Momma Ella, although I was disappointed that the only singing in the episode was by Lou. They couldn't find some way to give Gladys a chance to sing, perhaps in the restaurant scene at the end? I know there are few (any?) Thanksgiving songs, but still ... Renee did seem to indicate there had always been tension within the Grover family, and the chaos that followed was to have been expected. Still, the way Percy Jr. had been the protector of his little brother Lou ("Chubster") when they were growing up, I was surprised at the animosity between them. I get that Percy Jr. was still trying to find himself decades later (and doesn't every family have one of those?). But why was Lou seemingly holding that against him, after all that Percy Jr. had done for him? Lou has a loving family and an established career, so why wasn't he more supportive of Percy Jr.? Percy Jr. was dishing it back just as hard. Granted, he got Percy Jr. a job as a baker for Kamekona with that sample of kouign amann. Who carries French pastry in a Baggie in their pocket, anyway? After Googling kouign amann, I was wishing I had some. Related: Watch Hawaii Five-0 Online: Season 9 Episode 7 So this may not be the last we see of Percy Jr., now that he's joined up with Kamekona's merry band of reformed rogues. But that had to come after the food fight, including their tussle in the backyard and the kitchen set on fire. Why can't they all just get along? All in all, it was an effective, loving spotlight on Grover and his kin, warts and all. Football, that other Thanksgiving feature, also got its time in the spotlight, as McGarrett et al played that rowdy game of flag football. It was great to have Al Harrington, the only returning co-star from the original series, recur as Mamo, who served as referee. (Dennis Chun [Duke] guested as three different characters in the original series as well.) It's always a positive getting to see Five-0 members in th..

Dynasty Season 2 Episode 6 Review: That Witch

Lions and tigers and Liam, oh my. Like a fine Blue Belt wine, Dynasty keeps getting better with each passing episode. Here are the facts: Dynasty Season 2 Episode 6 was the best episode to date. It's entirely possible that I'm biased because of my deep love for the Wizard of Oz, but how can anyone argue with me after seeing Fallon take on Dorothy and the wizard? The world is not equipped to handle two Fallons making out with each other, but we are ready for the Tin Man to get his energy from champagne rather than oil. What else did you expect from Fallon's dream-state? Comparing this Thanksgiving dinner to Dynasty Season 1 Episode 7, a lot has changed, mostly for the better. Related: Dynasty Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Queen of Cups Thanksgiving at the Carrington Manor was much tamer this year around, but though the tornado killed the competitiveness of the annual football game, things didn't go off without a fair share of theatrics. Fallon's storyline took front-and-center as she attempted to decide between Culhane and Liam. Her storm scaries forced her to pop way too many pills as she simultaneously tried to impress Culhane's mother. The number of times she had to apologize for being herself was beyond irritating. Fallon is not one to apologize for being herself. There is a lot of bad blood between the Carrington family and the Culhane family, mainly because the Carringtons are responsible for the death of Michael's father, yet that wasn't what bothered his mother, Luella. She seemed more upset by the wealth and the self-entitlement than by anything else. And the opinions she formed of the family early on caused her to be closed off and judgemental. Oh, looks like someone's having a leg, a breast and a thigh. Can you two put some clothes on? People need to take shelter. Fallon Permalink: Oh, looks like someone's having a leg, a breast and a thigh. Can you two put some clothes on? Added: November 16, 2018 Yes, the rest of the family wasn't on their best behavior, especially Alexis, but Fallon was trying very hard. I was convinced that they would use Luella as the determining factor for Fallon like her Wizard of Oz dream predicted. Culhane's always been very close with his family, so if his mother hadn't approved, chances are they would have called off the wedding. Related: 20 Friendliest Exes on TV The fact that he didn't tell his mother is concerning because it seems like he was either embarrassed or knew it wasn't going to last. Either way, not a good sign. Luella was right about one thing -- there is love between them. Enough love for them to let each other go. Since Culhane overheard Fallon's heartbreaking call to Liam, I'm assuming he'll set her free. And hey, maybe she'll come back if it's really meant to be? Obviously, you know I believe she should ditch Culhane and give things with her..
